ABOUT Rocketa (ROCKI) Naron, MA, LMFT

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rutgers University in New Jersey and my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from St Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. I love food, travel, and experiencing different cultures that allow me to expand my views and question my ideas about my own cultures values, norms, and life in general.  I love animals; I am a bit of a tree hugger, and maintain a deep sense of social responsibility.  I love beauty, art, music, and fashion especially the perfect blend of nature, tradition, and new ideas.  More than anything, I love the business of maintaining close social relationships and things that make me laugh.

ABOUT THERAPY WITH ME

My first love was physics.  On a university tour, I had the opportunity to talk with a physics professor.  During that talk we discussed a difference in ideas in which I realized he argued using his understanding of the current known laws of physics and I argued using my understanding of the near boundlessness of human creativity and determination.  I knew at that moment physics would not be the right field for me.  I needed to be in a field that allowed me to help others harness their creativity and determination to create new solutions.  I consider myself a collaborative therapist as it allows me the freedom to research and question with my client rather than for them.  I like for therapy with me to be pretty laid back, more like a growthful conversation than work or a lecture. In my psychotherapy practice, I have not only the benefit of employing my training, experience, and education as a licensed marriage and family therapist to empower, encourage, and assist my clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, their concerns, and their resources, to create innovative management solutions for their specific concerns, but the additional benefit of drawing from my personal experiences with chronic intermittent pain.  I believe there are very few limitations to human strength, ingenuity, and ability.  I feel it is part of my job as a therapist to assist my clients in fully realizing their own abilities to define and reach their individual and interpersonal goals.
